This page is being provided to the reader to stress that we strongly encourage the practice of safe tool handling while operating these precision tools. In addition, we have included a few helpful tips which will help increase the life span of your tools.
Always Use Safety Glasses And A Dust Mask While Grinding

You must follow all the safety rules listed by the power tool's manufacturer. Regardless of the burrs or bits used, you must always wear protective devices, no less than a face and eye shields, a high grade dust mask and earplugs.

Fully Insert The Shaft Of The Burr Into The Grinders Collet
All grinders are equipped with a collet (the 1/8" or 1/4" opening) designed to hold the burr in place. The diameter and depth of the collet has been designed to properly grasp the burr's shaft. For that reason, the shaft of the burrs must be fully inserted into the collet and the collet tightened following the tool manufacturer's instructions.
Do not use any roto saw, RS-114 or larger in any collet unless the shaft is inserted a full inch.

Test for Balance
After inserting the burr but before beginning any work, power up for 5 seconds to test for balance. There should be no vibration and it should not be difficult to hold on to the tool even at top speed. If there is vibration turn the power off and return the item. It will be replaced or your money will be refunded.

Practice / Experiment First
Practice on a piece of softwood 2x4 or 4x4 before experimenting on your bonsai. The burrs remove wood quickly and easily with little or NO pressure. Go slowly and easy for best results.

Technical Information and Cleaning Suggestions

The sculpted teeth are constructed of tungsten carbide steel. The teeth do not need sharpening but do, depending on use, need cleansing when wood fibers and sap build up. They can be cleaned using a wire brush - similar to the type used to clean a gun barrel - or a gas flame to burn out the wood and sap quicker. Heat does not soften the steel.
